Privacy policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
This explains what Table It (“Table It”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Table It app and website, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it plain. If anything is unclear, write to hello@tableithq.com.
What we collect
Things you give us
- Sign-in details: your mobile number or email address, or your Apple ID if you use Sign in with Apple (Apple may give us a private relay email instead).
- Your profile: first name, photo (optional), a short bio, your interests and your neighborhood.
- Events you plan: title, date and time, venue, number of seats, who can join, notes, and for events at home, the address and anything you write about the meal.
- Tables you join and your join requests, invites, friends and friend requests.
- Messages you send in the app, including messages and emails to venues that we send on your behalf.
- Reports and blocks you make, and what you write in them.
- What you type into “Help me pick” (the vibe you’re looking for).
Things collected when you use the app
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you about messages, invites and changes to your tables.
- Usage counts, such as how many venue lookups or searches you’ve done today, to enforce daily limits and keep costs and abuse in check.
- Technical logs (for example, the time of a request and whether it failed), kept for a short time to fix problems and keep the service secure.
Things that stay on your phone
- Contacts. If you use “Find friends from your contacts,” the app turns each phone number and email in your contacts into a one-way code (a hash) on your phone and sends only those codes to check who’s on Table It. We don’t store your contacts or the codes. You can turn off “Let people find me” in the app so others can’t find you this way.
- Calendar. “Add to calendar” puts the event into your phone’s calendar. We don’t read your calendar.
- Photos. We only get the photo you choose for your profile.
We don’t collect your precise location, and we don’t use advertising trackers.
If you join the waitlist
The waitlist on our website asks for your first name and email, and optionally your neighborhood, your interests and, if you run one, your restaurant or bar. We use it to email you when Table It opens near you (starting with one welcome email, sent through our email provider) and to decide where and what to launch first. To stop spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of the internet address you signed up from, never the address itself. We don’t sell it or use it for ads. Reply to any of our emails, or write to hello@tableithq.com, and we’ll take you off the list and delete what you gave us.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To run Table It: show tables, let people join, show hosts and guests to each other, send messages and notifications, and email venues when you ask us to.
- To suggest venues when you use “Help me pick.”
- To keep people safe: review reports, act on accounts that break our community guidelines, and prevent spam and abuse.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who can see what
| Information | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| First name, photo, bio, interests | Other Table It users, for example on tables you host or join |
| Open (public) tables you host and who’s going | Table It users browsing Discover (people you’ve blocked can’t see them) |
| Private tables and dates | You, and the people you invite or approve |
| Your home address on an event at home | Only you and guests you’ve confirmed; others see just the neighborhood |
| Your phone number and email | Never shown to other users. Someone who already has your number or email in their contacts can find your profile, unless you turn that off. |
| Emails to venues sent through Table It | The venue, with your first name and what you wrote; their replies come back to you |
Who we share it with
We use a small number of companies to run Table It. They only get what they need to do their job for us, and may not use it for anything else.
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in, file storage and server code, in the United States.
- Twilio sends sign-in codes by text message.
- Postmark sends emails (sign-in codes, and emails to venues on your behalf) and receives venues’ replies.
- Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple.
- Expo delivers push notifications to your phone (with Apple and Google’s notification services).
- Google Maps Platform provides venue details and search results. We send venue names and addresses, and the search words from “Help me pick,” not your name or contact details. Google’s use of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude) turns what you type into “Help me pick” into a search. It only gets that text and the options you tapped, never your profile.
When you book on Resy or OpenTable, you leave Table It and their own privacy policies apply. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or if Table It is sold or merged (in which case this policy keeps applying to your information).
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, interests, the events you host, the tables you’ve joined, your friends, blocks and reports, and your conversations. Emails already delivered to a venue stay in the venue’s inbox, and our email provider keeps delivery records for a limited time. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis. We may keep a record of a report or ban where needed to keep people safe or meet a legal obligation.
Your choices
- Edit your profile any time in the app (Profile).
- Notifications: turn them off in your phone’s Settings.
- Contacts: you never have to share them; turn off “Let people find me” to stay unfindable by phone number or email.
- Block anyone, and they can’t see your open tables.
- Delete your account: Profile → Delete my account. Or email hello@tableithq.com from the address or phone number on your account and we’ll do it for you.
- Get a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights; we’ll honor them, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.
Age
Table It is for people 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we’ll delete the account.
Security
Sign-in uses one-time codes, so there are no passwords to leak. Your data is encrypted in transit, access to it is limited by strict rules in our database, and our service keys stay on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you notice anything wrong.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
