Table It works because people show up for each other. Every table is a few strangers (or soon-to-be friends) trusting each other with an evening. Here’s how we keep it good.
Be someone people want at their table
- Be kind and curious. Disagree without being rude.
- No harassment, threats, hate or discrimination, including over race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age or where someone’s from.
- Respect “no.” Don’t pressure anyone for a date, their number or to stay longer. Table It isn’t a dating app unless you’re both there for a date you planned together.
Show up, or say so early
- If you join a table, come. If you can’t, leave the table in the app as soon as you know.
- Hosts: if plans change, edit or cancel the event so your guests are told.
- Be on time. A small table notices an empty chair.
Be honest
- Use your real first name and a photo that’s actually you.
- Describe your table honestly: the place, the time, the cost and what to expect.
- Only say a venue confirmed your table if it did.
Stay safe
- Open tables (the ones anyone can find on Discover) are best at public places like restaurants, bars and cafés.
- Events at someone’s home: the address is only shown to confirmed guests. Hosts, only approve people you’re comfortable having over. Guests, tell a friend where you’re going.
- Drink responsibly, and only if you’re 21 or older. Never pressure anyone to drink.
- Get yourself home safely, and help others do the same.
- If someone is in danger, call 911 first.
Keep it about the table
- No selling, promoting, recruiting or collecting people’s contact details for business.
- No spam, to people or to venues.
- Treat venue staff well. They’re part of the evening too.
If something’s not right
Use Report on a table, a person (the ••• next to their name) or a conversation, and Block anyone you don’t want to see again. We read every report. Depending on what happened, we may remove a table, warn someone, or suspend or remove their account. You can also write to hello@tableithq.com.
